The weekend that Laurel was here we made plans to make the hour long drive southeast to Galveston Island. We left Saturday morning after getting tickets to the waterpark on the island off of Ebay.
Schlitterbahn is a chain and there are 3 Schlitterbahn waterparks in Texas alone. The one in Galveston is popular as the island itself is a tourist destination. Laurel and I got there when it opened at 9 and satyed until around 2 or 3, when the temperature reaches its peak.

Pretty Laurel in her pretty new hat in front of the wave pool and Schlitterbahn sign

There were lots of body slides, which were what I wanted to ride. Laurel preferred the tube slides and the lazy river. I will say the lazy river was pretty fun; it ran in a figure 8 around the entire park and had areas of rapids around a quarter of it.

| One of the body slides, we only went down the pink slide once, as it was a straight, steep drop |
 |
| We did the corkscrewing slides, but did not go on the steep ones as the drop was scary |
After we left the park, we went towards the nice downtown and found a 1920's themed candy shop and got a banana split. We also saw a Carnival cruise ship leave port, as Galveston is now a docking location for many cruise lines. All in all, it ended up being a very fun day.
