Soony Saad is a Dearborn native and former soccer player at the University of Michigan. He set all kinds of goal-scoring records in high school and his senior year was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, the highest individual honor a high school soccer player can earn.
His one year at Michigan he scored 19 goals, breaking the goal-scoring record for a freshmen and was named the Big Ten Freshmen of the Year after helping U of M win their first Big Ten Championship. He helped lead the team all the way to the NCAA Championship Game, where they eventually lost 2-1 to Akron.
Saad left U of M after his freshmen year to seek out a contract on a European club. Having failed to do so, he recently signed a contracted with an MLS side Sporting Kansas City. Last night marked his first game for SKC, he came on as a 60th minute substitute and scored his first MLS goal 9 minutes later. It also happened to be his 19th birthday.
If you start the video at the 6:27 mark, you can see his first professional goal
Wasn't nearly as impressive as this one for U of M
